1. Connect MetaMask Wallet to OpenSea/ Other Marketplaces
MetaMask does not have the “Send” option for NFTs. You can only view your NFTs in it.
Hence, to gain full control over your NFTs, you need to go to the marketplace where you have purchased your NFTs.
If you have purchased your NFTs on OpenSea, you need to connect the MetaMask Wallet Extension to OpenSea.
To do so, you need to click the “Wallet” icon in the upper right corner of the marketplace website.
After that, you need to click “Next” and then click “Connect” on your MetaMask.
If you have purchased NFTs on another marketplace, you need to connect your MetaMask with it.
After connecting the MetaMask to the relevant NFT marketplace, you need to switch network according to your NFT.
For example, if you have purchased Polygon NFT, you need to be on the Polygon Mainnet on your MetaMask.
2. Select your NFT
After establishing the connection, you need to locate your NFT.
To do so, you need to click the “Profile” icon in the top right corner of the webpage.
Then, you will land on the “Collected” tab, where you can see your NFT collections.
Click on the NFT that you wish to send to the Coinbase Wallet.
Now, you will be able to see multiple options. Among those options, click the “Transfer” icon at the top right of your NFT.
3. Paste the Recipient’s Coinbase Wallet Address
After clicking on Transfer, a prompt will ask you to enter the recipient’s address.
Copy-paste the address carefully. Because NFTs sent to the wrong address cannot be recovered.
Paste the Coinbase Wallet address and click “Transfer”.
To copy the Coinbase Wallet address, click on “Receive”.
Then, copy the Ethereum-compatible address.
You will now be asked to switch networks corresponding to your NFT if you are not on the right network.
4. Confirm Transfer
After clicking Transfer, you need to approve this transfer from MetaMask.
Click “Confirm” in the MetaMask prompt. Before clicking Confirm, you can see the estimated gas fee on this prompt.
Now, you will get to see a transfer complete notification along with the transaction ID (TxID).
This is how you can transfer NFT from MetaMask to Coinbase Wallet.
5. Verify the Transaction
After the transfer, you can go to the Coinbase Wallet and check the NFT under the “NFTs” tab.
You can also check the transaction on the blockchain explorer. Go to Etherscan or Polygonscan according to your NFT and paste the transaction ID (TxID) on the search bar.
You can find the transaction ID on MetaMask as well as in the Coinbase Wallet.
Conclusion
It is not an easy task to transfer NFT from MetaMask to Coinbase Wallet. By providing real-time screenshots, this article simplified the process.
Things to remember while transferring NFTs
- Copy-paste the recipient’s address with full focus. Because a wrong address will result in the loss of an asset.
- It is important to keep enough balance for the gas fee/ transaction fee. Based on the congestion of the blockchain, the gas/transaction fee ranges from ~$0.1 to $10.
- You can only use the native version of the token, not the wrapped version for the gas/ transaction fee.
- To check your NFT details, you can use the contract address on the corresponding blockchain explorer. You can find the NFT contract address on OpenSea or in the NFT marketplace to which your NFT belongs.
