Changing the current password or resetting the forgotten password is always possible in all non-custodial Web 3 wallets. Before changing or resetting the Fewcha Wallet, make sure that you have taken a backup of your secret recovery phrase or the private key.
In this article, I have detailed the process of how I changed and reset my Fewcha Wallet password in under 1 minute.
There are two scenarios discussed:
Steps to Change Fewcha Wallet Password
1. Unlock Fewcha Wallet Extension
Open the Fewcha Wallet extension on your device.
Enter your current password to open the wallet extension.
2. Go to “Settings”
After opening the Fewcha Wallet extension, you will land on the “Home” page by default.
Navigate to the “Settings” section to change the password.
3. Click “Security”
On the “Settings” page, you will be able to see multiple options, such as “Theme”, “Network”, “Language”, “Trusted dApps”, “Address Book”, “Security”, and “Playground”.
You need to navigate to “Security” and click on it.
After clicking on it, you will be able to see two options: “Password” and “Reset Wallet Extension”.
Click “Update Password” under “Password”.
4. Set a New Password
Now, you will be asked to enter your wallet’s current password.
Then, you need to enter your new password a couple of times. Set a strong password with a combination of letters, numbers, and special characters.
Lastly, click “Change”.
That’s it. This is how you can change the Fewcha Wallet password quickly.
Steps to Reset Fewcha Wallet Password
Since Fewcha Wallet does not have a feature to reset password like Martian or Petra Wallets yet, you need to manually uninstall the extension to reset the password.
- Uninstall and Reinstall the Fewcha Extension
- Click “Use an existing wallet”
- Click “With Recovery Phrase” or “With Private Key”
- Set a New Password
- Enter the Recovery Phrase or Private Key
1. Uninstall and Reinstall the Fewcha Extension
To uninstall the Fewcha Wallet extension, click the “Puzzle icon” in the Chrome browser.
Then, click “Remove from Chrome”.
Now, you need to install the Fewcha Wallet extension again. To do so, head to the Fewcha Wallet website and click “Get Extension”.
2. Click “Use an existing wallet”
After installing the extension, you will be able to see two options: “Create a new wallet” and “Use an existing wallet”.
Since you are resetting the password, you must choose “Use an existing wallet”.
3. Click “With Recovery Phrase” or “With Private Key”
Fewcha Wallet allows you to restore the account either via the secret recovery phrase or via the private key.
Choose whatever you are comfortable with. I will be going with the “Secret recovery phrase” option.
4. Set a New Password
Now is the time you are looking for. You will be allowed to set the new password after choosing the recovery option.
Set a strong as well as easy-to-remember password. You don’t need to enter your current password to reset the password. All you need is your private key or secret recovery phrase associated with your Fewcha Wallet account.
After setting the new password, read the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Select the checkbox and click “Continue”.
5. Enter the Recovery Phrase or Private Key
To complete this process, you need to enter the recovery phrase or private key.
If you have chosen the private key in Step 3, enter your private key; otherwise, enter your secret recovery phrase in the right order.
Lastly, click “Continue”.
That’s it. You have successfully reset the forgotten password.
Conclusion
Changing the current password is smooth and easy. It can be done by heading to the “Settings” option.
On the other hand, you must enter your recovery phrase or private key if you forget your password in order to set a new one. You or the Fewcha Wallet team cannot change your password without the private key or secret recovery phrase.
Ensure you have taken a backup of your recovery phrase. If not, you can do so by going to “Settings” and clicking “Wallet account name”.
Always follow the best practices to store the Fewcha Wallet recovery phrase or private key.
