Midjourney is one of the famous text-to-image generative AI models that has been trained on millions of text-image pairs to produce user-required artwork. In order to get the most out of Midjourney, you must know how to query it.
Querying Midjourney or other generative AI models is known as “prompting,” which is a series of words written in human language.
To write a good prompt, you need to insert multiple modifiers. But, alternatively, you can bring out more from Midjourney just by mentioning the artists’ names. To do so, you need to know the artists’ names that Midjourney supports.
Unlike Stable Diffusion, Midjourney is not an open-source project. Hence, Midjourney Lab, the company behind Midjourney, has not revealed its complete training dataset. Hence, it is hard to know the artist’s style that Midjourney supports. However, there are many successful AI artists out there on Twitter, Instagram, Lexica, and OpenArt who are experimenting with artists’ names and styles on Midjourney.
In this article, I have curated a list of tested artists along with the style/ field they are famous for. However, this is not the official list released by Midjourney.
The Impact of Artist’s Names on Prompt
Writing good prompts involves a set of tips known as “prompt engineering” that optimizes the prompts to get better results.
One of the cool tips from prompt engineering is that just by adding a particular artist’s name, you can mimic their style. To do so, you must know the artist names that are supported by Midjourney.
