Forgot MetaMask password?

To reset/ change your MetaMask password, you need to click the Forgot Password option.
Then, you need to enter your 12-word secret recovery phrase to reset the password.
Steps to Reset MetaMask Password
1. Click Forgot Password
If you forgot your MetaMask password, you can easily change it within a minute.
To do so, you need to launch the MetaMask extension.
Then, click the “Forgot Password” option on the lock screen of MetaMask.
In case you did not forget the password yet you want to change it for some reason, you can do so.
In that instance, you need to first lock your MetaMask extension to reach the Forgot Password option.
To lock your MetaMask extension, you need to click the profile icon in the upper right corner of your extension.
Then, click Lock.
Now, you will be able to see the Forgot Password option.
2. Enter your Secret Recovery Phrase
After clicking the Forgot Password option, you will be on the Reset Wallet page.
Here, you need to enter your secret recovery phrase or you can copy-paste your secret recovery phrase into the given field.
If you have multiple accounts associated with multiple secret recovery phrases, make sure to enter the current account’s recovery phrase.
3. Enter the New Password
Next, you can enter the new password.
The password must be at least 8 characters.
Lastly, enter the Restore button.
Upon clicking Restore, your account will be loaded.
That’s it. You have successfully reset your MetaMask password.
Hereafter, you need to use your new password.
Steps to Reset MetaMask Password (In Application)
1. Go to Settings
Launch the MetaMask application.
Tap on the three parallel lines in the upper left corner of the application.
Navigate to Settings and tap on it.
2. Tap on Security & Privacy
In the Settings, you will be able to see multiple options.
You need to tap on Security & Privacy.
3. Change Password
Once you have tapped on Security & Privacy, scroll a bit down.
Tap on Change Password.
Now, you need to confirm your current password in order to set a new password.
Type in your current password and tap Confirm.
Now, you will be able to set your new password.
Then, select the check box.
If you want you can enable or disable the biometric unlock.
Lastly, tap on Reset Password.
Note: This password will unlock your MetaMask wallet only on the device that you are currently using.
